American Witch Hazel Shrubs are an attractive late fall-blooming, low maintenance shrub or small tree that grows best in part shade and medium-wet, slightly acidic soils. The yellow flowers are one of the last to appear in late fall and early winter and are long-lasting.
The Witch Hazel Shrub’s fragrant yellow flowers open in late October or November and provide nectar for migrating insects. Botanically referred to as ‘Hamamelis virginiana,’ the American Witch Hazel has upright spreading branches are perfect nesting sites for a variety of birds.
