Green Ice Boxwood (Buxus koreana) is an exceptionally compact boxwood In the spring, the bluish-green foliage emerges and matures to a darker green by the summer. When other plants lose their color and foliage, the Green Ice Boxwood holds its vibrant green color even in the winter.
The Buxus Green Ice shrub boasts an upright mounded growth habit and only reaches a mature height of 4 feet tall and wide. The evergreen shrubs are very easily pruned to achieve a more clean cut, manicured look in formal landscape and garden projects. However the Green Ice develops a rounded shape naturally if left unpruned.
These icy Boxwoods prefer full to part sun and do not like to sit in wet soil for extended amounts of time. The green winter interest plants are very hardy though and will tolerate a wide range of lighting and soil conditions. The compact yard plants will also tolerate the coldest of winters and are resistant to pests and disease.
